3 Reasons we use Soy Wax for our Candles

Soy wax pellets, why we use soy wax blog by Megan Heloise

We're often asked why we use soy wax for our candles and what is the difference between soy and paraffin candles. In this short blog post we'll explain the 3 main reasons and benefits of using soy wax.

1. Natural

Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from soybeans. The soy we use to make our candles is GMO* free and sourced from responsible farmers and suppliers.

*Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) can be defined as organisms (i.e. plants, animals or microorganisms) in which the genetic material (DNA) has been altered in a way that does not occur naturally by mating and/or natural recombination

2. Renewable

Soy is biodegradable which means it breaks down into natural elements with the aid of bacteria or fungi. It is also a renewable source, unlike old school paraffin wax which is derived from petroleum oil, and as we know is a dwindling and nonrenewable source.

3. Clean Burning

Paraffin wax produces harmful by-products when burned or melted which soy wax does not. Soy wax is non-toxic making it better for the environment and your health.

So to summarise, we choose to use soy wax as it offers a clean burning, environmentally friendly alternative to paraffin wax whilst not compromising on fragrance throw and quality finish!
