Words of Wisdom from 4 Female Bosses on Business Women's Day

To celebrate Business Women's Day 2021 we're recognising 4 female-owned small businesses here on the blog at Megan Heloise. By sharing their powerful pieces of advice we hope these girl bosses inspire you to grab the reins and achieve whatever it is you want in work or life.

1. Toni - TeePee Creations

“It’s really easy to get caught up in the here and now and feel like you’ve not done enough or someone is further ahead than you. Everyone’s paths are completely different.
I try to regularly look back at my past and see everything I’ve achieved so far in my business. It can be shocking to see how much you’ve already done!
My motivational tip is to frame these moments in your office or stick them on your fridge, somewhere you will always see them, so you have daily reminders of how amazing you really are! These really help when you’re having a bad day.”

2. Tanya - Panda Portrayal

"My advice to any woman out there thinking of starting their own business is to – GO FOR IT.

As women I believe we’re conditioned to doubt ourselves and starting a business requires a lot of courage, putting yourself out there, testing things out and believing in yourself, so just go for it, even if you don’t think you’re ready.
It will take time and you will come across hurdles and maybe make a mistake or two, but I promise that it’ll only make you grow and thrive.
Be patient, take your time and don’t compare yourself to others! I personally don’t believe in competition, there’s always room for everyone, we’re all in this together. Learn from others, make friends, support each other, and just trust your instincts."

3. Amy - Beloved Creations

"Push past any self-doubt and embrace the uncertainty and adversity of working for yourself. Make peace with the fact that making mistakes is inevitable and simply how we grow as humans and try to enjoy the ride.
Always book time off to recharge. It’s really easy to see months go past without a real break and it’s not healthy or sustainable.
Don’t forget to have fun. For most of us, our side-hustle started out as a mindful, joyful hobby so don’t lose sight of the fact you love what you do!"

4. Erin - Lola's Lugs

"Make sure you are following your own path, and stick to what you want to do, not what others want from you! You can often get bogged down by spending all of your time creating/doing things that others would like, but prioritise time where you can do something for yourself. If you don’t allow time for yourself to actually enjoy the work you do, and sell products you personally like, you can end up hating what you do - which is the last thing you want! Do not compare your journey to anyone else’s! This is your own path. You will reach your goals, but you might not reach them at the same time as others, and that’s okay. As long as you get to the finish line that’s all that matters!"
